Another Guantanamo PR disaster

In 2001, Al Jazeera cameraman Sami al-Haj was captured on the Afghan-Pakistan border. He was held as an enemy combatant and taken to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The US military charged al-Haj with being a courier for terrorists, a claim he denies. He didn’t face prosecution.

NYPD stormtroopers to patrol subways

DHS and the NYPD have collaborated to bring us another taxpayer funded PR stunt. At a cost of $30 million dollars for the next two years, ‘Operation Torch’ will put heavily armed officers in the subways in a mostly futile effort to prevent terrorist attacks.

‘Fusion centers’ amass personal info
