European tourism in US set to explode
PASSPORT reflects on the open-skies agreement going into effect next week:
This is great news… if you live in Europe. New fares may apply to folks on both sides of the drink, but Europeans are finding great opportunities to spend their euros in the United States, while American tourists find that a dwindling few countries even accept dollars at tourist attractions anymore.
Since one Euro costs almost $1.55 right now, I don’t believe many Americans will be taking advantage of these fares. This is devastating news for certain countries in Europe that are highly dependent on US tourism — Italy in particular.
By contrast, open-skies couldn’t come at a better time for many American tourism hot spots.
